Strategic planning allows you to evaluate long-term sustainability and perspective of your business for up to 5 years, consciously considering the paths of strategic advancement depending on the set priorities, potential external challenges and internal assets of a given organisation.
The Developing and Executing Strategy course incorporates approaches and methods from other MBA courses and is the capstone course of the Master of Business Administration programme.
The primary aim of the course is to master the strategic approach as a means of leading a company’s strategy. Such an approach is built on strategic mindset and implies the use of a large number of ideas and concepts derived from the core subjects of business administration – marketing, finance, project management, etc.
These are the core elements of strategic analysis, and it is precisely what makes strategic planning a crucial part of an MBA programme.
The process of strategy development is illustrated in the form of a model that provides a structured approach to analysis with the ability to identify and compare components of complex processes. The strategic planning model provides the backbone for understanding strategy considerations, as it provides a baseline format for assessing the possible application of concepts and ideas. The model provides a framework for framing key questions that help analyse strategic issues that are relevant to many contexts.
An integral part of the course is the business case method, widely used to teach strategic planning. It is an excellent educational method that allows students to investigate real-life examples (pre-arranged by tutors and backed up by theory), deliver a presentation, negotiate and advocate their analysis.
The course also contains self-assessment questions and simulations designed to help students grasp certain concepts. In such a way, the main objective of the course is to help students learn how to apply strategic analysis to real-world business situations.
On completion of the course, you will:
