What are the key benefits of an Edinburgh Business School MBA?

The balance between personal life, speed of learning, individual capabilities and business needs is something that is a cornerstone at Edinburgh Business School.

  • Personalised study track and flexibility

Students of the MBA programme at Edinburgh Business School have the opportunity to create a personalised learning path, or ‘personal study track’. It involves an individually designed study plan that meets the student’s current needs. Each student chooses which MBA course to start with, when to take a break, and with which course to continue.

  • World-class knowledge and proven practices

Students master the materials compiled at Edinburgh Business School by leading lecturers from world business schools. Academic standards and approaches of the European educational community include verified information, work with large databases, application of scientific research methods, verification and systematisation of fresh and already working business tools.

The materials are focused on international knowledge and practices, with case studies based on examples of global corporations, British, American and Western European companies. During classes with tutors students consider the specifics of the local business environment and case studies.

  • International diploma and recognition

Students of the Edinburgh Business School are students of Heriot-Watt University, of which the business school is a part. Upon completion of the programme and successful passing of exams, the student receives an MBA diploma from the Edinburgh Business School of Heriot-Watt University.

Students receive international documents after each successfully passed exam:

  • 1 course – Course Completion Certificate
  • 3 courses – Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration
  • 6 courses – Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration
  • 9 courses – Master Degree in Business Administration

What accreditation does Edinburgh Business School have?

The value and quality of Edinburgh Business School diplomas are guaranteed by Heriot-Watt University, which holds a Royal Charter and is ranked among the TOP 300 best universities in the world according to the QS University Ranking 2022.

The Royal Charter is granted in the UK to outstanding institutions in their field that meet certain criteria, and since the 1950s, one of these criteria has been that the applicant must exist not only to promote the interests of its members, but also, and above all, to promote the public interest. The Bank of England, the City of London, and the Royal Society are also examples of organisations that have Royal Charters. The possession of a Royal Charter confirms the recognition of the institution, the quality of education and that the institution has the right to award degrees.

Who develops learning materials for the business school?

Unlike most local educational institutions, where a course or programme can represent private vision and experience of the programme leader, Edinburgh Business School’s teaching materials are developed by leading lecturers from Edinburgh and other global business schools (London Business School, Imperial College London, INSEAD, Tulane University, Stanford Business School). These materials are used by business school students all over the world.

Academic standards and approaches of the European educational community include verified information, work with large databases, application of scientific research methods, verification and systematisation of fresh and business tools with proved record.

The study materials are focused on modern knowledge and practices, and the cases are based on examples of global corporations, British, Western European and American companies. In classes with tutors students also consider the specifics of the local business environment and particular case studies.

How long does the MBA programme take?

Unlike a classical university, students of the programme have the opportunity to form a personal ‘study route’ or ‘personal track’. It involves an individually designed study plan that meets the student’s current needs. Each student chooses which MBA course to start with, when to take a break, and with which course to continue.

According to experience, the average duration of a full MBA programme is 2.5 years. However, you can study as long or as fast as you need and according to your capabilities.

Students receive the following awards during their studies:

  • 1 course – Course Completion Certificate
  • 3 courses – Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration
  • 6 courses – Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration
  • 9 courses – Master Degree in Business Administration

How do you study at the MBA programme?

At present, the MBA programme at our hub is delivered in an online format. Students have access to materials on the international platform of the business school and to an online resource with additional materials. Tutors during classes help to systematise and clarify the information received.

The business school offers a convenient study schedule for working professionals.

  • Classes with a tutor are held in groups during the сourse once every 2 weeks, on Saturdays or Sundays in an online format
  • Edinburgh Business School recommends investing at least 150 hours in self-study for each course. Students must read the materials before each classes to fully benefit from classes with tutors and from programme

Students take an exam at the end of each course.

What is the language on the MBA programme?

The British MBA programme is taught in English. The main materials, auxiliary materials, classes with tutors are provided in English.

To master the information, it is recommended that you have an English language proficiency of IELTS 6.5 (reading). Currently, we do not require language certificates and the level of language proficiency is determined during the interview and in the motivational essay.

It should be noted that for 99% of our students, English is not their native language.

If you want to make sure that your language level is sufficient, please contact us (info@britishmba.in.ua) – we will advise you, share our students’ experience and materials for your reference.

What learning materials do MBA students use?

The learning materials are developed at Edinburgh Business School by leading lecturers from Edinburgh and other world business schools (London Business School, Imperial College London, INSEAD, Tulane University, Stanford Business School) and form the basis of the programme. These materials are used by business school students all over the world. Students get access to the international online platform of the business school.

In the process of preparing for assessments, tutors prepare auxiliary materials that are also freely available to students.
