The Entrepreneurship and Creativity course will, in particular, help to foster the skills of creative development and ideation and their commercial viability; and, secondly, help to shape an entrepreneurial mindset, as well as strategise the development of your own start-up or a new project or activity in an existing business or corporation.
As part of the course, students are asked to research a new idea, elaborate on it, and present it in a pitch format.
The course encourages the ideas generation, creativity and innovation and their execution through practical toolkits of strategic planning, marketing, operations management and finance.
The course is aimed at facilitating those who want to advance their entrepreneurial approach to ideation and turn it into an investor-ready pitch and a viable startup.
The course is structured into 10 modules. The opening module explores what is meant by entrepreneurship and its contribution to business, economic and social change. The first modules equip students with an awareness of approaches to ideation. On completion of the second module, the student is expected to select an idea to be developed for the final pitch presentation.
The other modules of the course solidify knowledge and understandings of the entrepreneurship process and enhance relevant skills such as communication, initiative, creativity, analysis, problem identification and problem solving. The course is designed to encourage students to develop their own business ideas, critically assess their feasibility and practice their business skills, with a particular focus on opportunity identification methodologies, the critical importance of market research and the presentation of their concepts.
The course assessment includes two rounds: an online test and a pitch deck presentation in English.
